Support AFC’s Right to Learn Campaign

Investing in AFC’s Future

In 2021, Advocates for Children of New York (AFC) launched the 50th Anniversary AFC Right to Learn Campaign, our first-ever multi-year fundraising campaign, to ensure our future sustainability and increase our impact in protecting the education rights of students from families with low incomes in New York City. The Right to Learn Campaign targets a goal of raising $5 million in additional private funding over three years.

When we began this Campaign, NYC public school students had just returned to in-person learning after nearly 18 months of remote classes. The pandemic had disrupted the entire school system, making long-standing inequities even worse, particularly for the families AFC serves – those whose children were already struggling. Even now, we continue to see the effects of that disruption on students academically, socially, and emotionally.

The pandemic and its aftermath highlighted the importance of AFC as a resource and advocate for NYC’s students and families. The Right to Learn Campaign will sustain AFC’s work and enable us to expand gradually and strategically to address students’ unmet needs and realize our vision to ensure that no child in New York City is denied the opportunity to receive a good education.

We thank the many dedicated individuals who contributed to the Campaign’s success to date through their generous gifts and tireless volunteer efforts, including: advocating for our Campaign among their circles, creating special funds to support fundraising, and hosting events to spread awareness of the Campaign.
