Policy

Policy

Advocates for Children of New York (AFC) works to change education policy so that the public school system serves ALL children of New York City effectively. AFC’s attorneys and education specialists help thousands of families each year to resolve obstacles to their success in school.  When we spot trends in the problems facing the families we serve, we advocate to eliminate these problems through effective and pragmatic policy change. View our Policy Agenda, our current Action Alerts, and our NYC Budget Recommendations for FY 2025.

We lead or participate in numerous Taskforces & Coalitions, publish informative and influential Policy Reports, and deliver Public Comments and Testimony on educational issues of importance.  We also speak out in the Press to bring public attention to the challenges confronting New York’s most educationally vulnerable students.
