2024–25
State budget advocacy
In September 2024, CEEF released a joint statement with our recommendations for changes to the Foundation Aid formula, including adding a per-pupil weight for students in temporary housing and students in the foster system; updating the Regional Cost Index; including funding for students in 3-K and Pre-K, who are currently left out of the formula entirely; and providing resources to implement the State’s new class size requirements for New York City.
Our activities in 2024–25 also included launching an action alert so that individuals could contact state elected leaders, holding a teach-in for parents and community members, presenting at community events, meeting with key state legislators, organizing a legislative briefing, and testifying at the Joint Legislative Hearing on the Executive Budget Proposal for Elementary and Secondary Education.
