Other Ways to Donate
As New York City public schools face round after round of budget cuts, it is more important than ever that AFC have the resources it needs to continue protecting the right to learn for New York City’s most disadvantaged children -- who are the ones most likely to feel the effects of program and staffing reductions. By becoming a monthly sponsor you are providing Advocates for Children with a steady and reliable income to help fund our programs and allowing us to focus more energy on helping our students and families in need.
Here are just a few ways your monthly gift can make a difference:
- Only $10 a month – Pays for an expert to counsel a parent on our Helpline about the educational and support options available for a child with autism.
- Only $25 a month – Allows AFC to organize an outreach event for children in foster care as a forum to educate and empower their caregivers about their special learning challenges.
- Only $50 a month – Provides three hours of attorney time to prepare for and attend a meeting with the Board of Education to resolve a dispute over the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for a struggling student.
- Only $100 a month – Helps provide expert legal counsel to a court-involved youth that allows him to access a quality education and avoid incarceration.
Honor and Memorial Gifts
You can make a donation to honor someone; to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday, marriage, anniversary, graduation, or retirement; or to remember someone who has passed away and to celebrate the difference they made in your life.
Your gift will help disadvantaged students and their families get the expert counsel, guidance, training, and information they need to get the quality education they deserve and have a real and lasting impact on a child’s life. Our online donation system allows you to enter the contact information of your honoree.
Through planned giving, you can make a gift that will have a positive impact on the lives of New York City’s most disadvantaged children and youth for years to come, and receive significant tax benefits, all at the same time. Some of the types of gifts that may make sense for you include: Bequest Gifts, Securities Gifts, Charitable Trusts, Gifts of Personal Property or Real Estate, Retirement or IRA Gifts.
If you have questions about recurring donations, honor and memorial gifts, or planned giving, please contact Linda Yassky at email@example.com or 212-822-9512.
Advocates for Children is made up of 50 extremely dedicated staff, as well as scores of equally devoted interns, fellows, law students, and volunteers who pass through our doors every year. We work very hard, every day, on behalf of New York City’s most disadvantaged populations to make sure that the students and families we serve are getting the help they need in their quest for a quality education.
Sometimes we could use a little help too! AFC welcomes gifts of new or gently used computers, office equipment, and office furniture. If you are interested in donating goods, please contact Deran Cadotte at firstname.lastname@example.org or 212-822-9520.
