NY’s Foundation Aid Formula for Schools Being Studied, Report Due in December
WRCR | After 17 years, New York State is re-evaluating its school funding formula. Foundation Aid’s formula has long been considered outdated, but lingering pandemic problems have only exacerbated the issue. The Rockefeller Institute is studying the issue, with education advocates suggesting learning loss from the pandemic and the youth mental health crisis have made this change more necessary. Randi Levine is with Advocates for Children of New York, and she says the new formula must allocate funds for homeless students and students in the foster care system.
