For more than 50 years, we have fought beside NYC families from under-resourced communities through a unique combination of services, all focused on protecting education rights and eliminating barriers to success so all students can thrive.
  • Kevin's Story

    Advocates for Children assisted Kevin’s mother in finding a more appropriate school placement for sixth grade. With our help, Kevin enrolled at a specialized non-public school for students with disabilities, where he finally received the individualized support he needed.

  • Gloria's Story

    12-year-old Gloria was struggling academically, and was anxious about going to school because she was being bullied. Now that she is in a safe, supportive environment and receiving the services she needs to learn, Gloria is much happier and making progress in school!

  • Laura's Story

    When Laura first came to AFC, she was struggling in school with a learning disability and severe anxiety, and failing all of her classes. With AFC's support and intervention, Laura has grown academically and emotionally at a smaller, more appropriate school placement
