Success Story

Support Our Work

Support Our Work

Every child in New York City has a right to learn!

For more than 50 years, AFC has protected that right for the children and youth most likely to fall through the cracks of our education system because of their poverty, race, disability, language barriers, homelessness, or involvement in the foster care or juvenile justice systems.

Last year, AFC served over 17,300 students and their families. Countless more benefitted from the reforms we advanced that made a real and lasting difference in the delivery of education in New York City’s public schools.

Your gift will help us to provide students and their families with critical support, such as expert advice through our Helpline, free legal services, or trainings and workshops to teach them self-advocacy skills. AFC will then use those experiences to continue to be a powerful voice in New York City education policy, pressing for changes that improve educational opportunity for all of the city’s 1.1 million public school students.

See our fact sheet [PDF] for a summary of our accomplishments from the past year and read some recent success stories to see how your gift could change a life.
