AFC Testifies on Busing for Students with Disabilities

AFC testified before the New York City Council Committees on Education, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, and Transportation about the City’s Preparation for and Response to Winter Storm Avery. Our testimony focused on the experiences of students with disabilities on school buses during the snowstorm and the importance of passing legislation to provide parents with access to real-time GPS data for their children’s school buses.

AFC Testifies on School Emergency Preparedness and Safety

AFC testified before the New York City Council Committee on Public Safety and Committee on Education regarding a proposal to establish a school emergency preparedness task force and a resolution calling for one guidance counselor and social worker for every 250 students and at least one guidance counselor and social worker per school.

La Coalición ARISE y PIE convocan a inversiones en accesibilidad escolar en el Plan Capital para el año fiscal 2020-2024

Los miembros de la Coalición ARISE (coordinada por AFC) y Padres por una Educación Inclusiva (PIE) enviaron una carta al alcalde Bill de Blasio pidiendo que la ciudad incluya una inversión importante en el Plan Capital Quinquenal de la Autoridad de Construcción Escolar para el año fiscal 2020-2024. hacer que al menos un tercio de las escuelas sean accesibles para estudiantes, padres y maestros con discapacidades físicas.
