Foster youth are also overrepresented in \u201cDistrict 75\u201d schools, which analysts say segregate students with significant disabilities from the rest of the system, while lacking resources and showing far lower graduation rates than other city schools.\r\n\r\nThe bill passed by the City Council would require the Department of Education to track students\u2019 individualized education programs \u2013\u2013 documents required for students enrolled in special education programs.\r\n\r\nErika Palmer, supervising attorney at Advocates for Children, said foster youth are also more likely to be placed in \u201cvery restrictive special education settings,\u201d signaling the need for more careful monitoring of how students are being classified.\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/imprintnews.org\/top-stories\/new-york-city-to-better-track-foster-youth-education\/245339\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u0427\u0438\u0442\u0430\u0442\u044c \u0441\u0442\u0430\u0442\u044c\u044e<\/a><\/em>","":null,"settings":""}}],"relationships":{"":null,"article_type":[83],"topics":[21],"misc_topics":[199]},"misc":{"search_results":{"":null,"excerpt":"","featured_image":6140}}},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
