Trainings & Workshops
Advocates for Children of New York conducts hundreds of trainings and workshops year-round, providing parents and professionals with the most up-to-date information so that they are equipped to advocate on behalf of their children.

On-Site Workshops
Note: all in-person workshops are currently suspended while AFC staff are working remotely. Although our offices will be closed, we will continue to offer online workshops and trainings.
AFC’s Parent Center can provide free trainings and workshops at your school or organization on a variety of education-related topics, such as:
- Student and parent rights
- Early intervention services for infants and toddlers
- Transitioning from preschool special education to kindergarten
- K-12 Special education services
- Behavior challenges and school discipline
- Bullying
- Supports and programs for English Language Learners (ELLs)
- Graduation requirements and diploma options
- Transitioning to adulthood
Workshops provide a customized, interactive presentation by one of our staff members, opportunities to ask questions, and easy-to-use information packets. Our staff offers workshops in both English and Spanish and will collaborate with your agency to present materials in other languages.

Continuing Education for Social Work
Advocates for Children is an approved provider (#0271) of continuing education for social workers (LCSW & LMSW). Currently, continuing education programs are offered only through our Homeless Education Project, NYS-TEACHS (the New York State Technical and Education Assistance Center for Homeless Students).
